Awareness about the role of tooth related developmental disturbances in personal identification among dental students

Abstract: Dental anomalies are developmental disturbances or variations from normal that help to establish the uniqueness of an individual apart from the differences in the morphology and arrangement of teeth from person to person which helps in personal identification which plays and acts as an important tool of identification. The aim of the survey was to establish the awareness about various dental anomalies in dental students which would aid in the identification of an individual. A survey has been conducted among dental students in Saveetha Dental College, Chennai.Sample size was 100. Data of the responses of the survey was collected and plotted in graph. Data has been collected and analysis was done with the help of SPSS software and data was plotted with the graphs. Results showed that more than 80% of people are aware of the development dental disturbances and its role in personal identification.
