Abstract:

The aim of the study was to find the knowledge and awareness on complications of local anesthesia among undergraduate students. A one page survey questionnaire was prepared. The sample size included 100 Undergraduate students. The results were tabulated excel sheets and analyses using SPSS analysis and the statistical test used is chi square test. 47% of the students told 300mg was the maximum dosage of lignocaine in 1:80000 adrenaline. Nearly 21.2% of the students did aspiration only for inferior alveolar nerve blocks. The most common complication according to students included syncope and paresthesia. Nearly 20.2% of the students did not know the cause of paresthesia and needle breakage. 91.9% of the students were aware of facial nerve paralysis caused due to improper injection of local anesthesia. Within the limitations of the present study, undergraduate students have inadequate Knowledge about the complication of local anesthesia.
