Oral hygiene status of women in the age group of 30 - 35 years

Abstract: Oral health is an integral part of the general health and well-being of an individual.Good oral hygiene has been shown to contribute greatly to the prevention of oral related diseases. Oral hygiene is the practice of keeping the mouth healthy and clean by brushing and flossing to prevent tooth decay and gum diseases.Periodontal diseases are among the most common chronic diseases affecting people of all ages worldwide. The aim of this study was to assess the oral hygiene status of women in the age group 30 – 35 years. A University-based study was conducted among 100 female patients in the age group of 30 -35, we reviewed patient records and analysed the data of 100 from June 2019 to March 2020, the Variables collected included gingival index score.The data was entered into Excel, tabulation and statistical analysis was done using SPSS and Pearson chi-square test. Out of the 100 female patients that were selected, The mean age of the patient is 32.5 years. Most number of patients were from the age group of 35 (23%) whereas only 9% of the patients from the age group of 31. 59% of the patients had mild gingivitis, 36% had moderate and only 5% had severe gingivitis. Within the limits of this study, it was concluded that the oral hygiene status among the women aged 30 - 35 years was satisfactory.
