Abstract:

Aim of the study is to review the morphological and morphometrical estimation of sex using measurements of scapula from dry human bones. It is a need within the death investigation to find accurate and reliable methodologies to assist with the estimation of sex for unknown human remains understanding human anatomy and its associated diversity is important how forensic anthropologists estimate sex from human skeletal remains. This article reviews on estimation of the sex using scapular bone measurements. Systematic review was done by collecting various articles from the google scholar, research gate and PubMed. The articles collected were based on the scapular anatomy, the parameters that were used during the metric analysis of the scapula and the various dimorphic features were keenly noted on the scapula. The data collection was done in the year 2020. The data analysis was done during the time period of April - May 2020. This article has reviewed a range of publications of the sex determination using scapular measurements. Many studies showed that maximum scapular length will be a significant factor for sex determination. Sex can be determined using the various parameters of the scapula bones.
