Author: , MULUMOODI RAMA SOWMYA, RAGHU SANDHYA, ADIMALUPU HIMA SANDEEP
Abstract: The aim of the present study was to assess the clinical exposure to multi visit root canal treatment (RCT) in mandibular teeth among undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) students. The data was retrieved from the patient records and analyzed the data of 2626 patients between June 2019 to March 2020. The data was collected in a chronological order and tabulated in an excel sheet under the heading mandibular teeth, treatment type- multi visit RCT, clinic type-undergraduate and postgraduate students. Sample size[n] was 2626. Data was analyzed by Chi square test using SPSS software. It was an institution based retrospective study. In this study, we observed that there was significant difference in the clinical exposure to multi visit RCT in mandibular teeth among undergraduate and postgraduate students. The probability value obtained after performing Chi square test was P<0.05 and showed that undergraduate students (68.1%) performed more number of mandibular multi visit RCT cases compared to postgraduate students (31.9%). Within the limitations of the study, it was observed that undergraduate students performed more number of mandibular multi visit RCT cases compared to postgraduate students. Both undergraduate and postgraduate students did maximum multi-visit RCT cases in mandibular first molars.
