Abstract:
|
Adolescence is considered aperiod of significant decline in physicalactivity levels. Compulsions of the modern
education, in association with technological advancements facilitating various day to day activities with minimal
physical activity, is primarily responsible for this phenomenon. Availability of mobile phones and internet, long
hours of engagement with online and social networking activities have further compounded the problem in recent
times.Childhood is an important phase of life in terms of developing consumption habits. Several studies have
shown that eating habits obtained during childhood period will have both an immediate as well as a long term
effect on the child’s health and nutrition. Research also shows that children’s eating practices are also influenced by
poor parental feeding practices, and can lead to harmful eating habits such as benderconsumption or emotional
intake. All these can further increase the occurrence of overweight and obesity.
