Cone- Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) is nowadays widely used for orthodontic diagnosis, treatment planning and research. However, there have been various opinions regarding the appropriate use of CBCT in the field of Orthodontics. Hence, this survey was performed to assess the popularity in the use of CBCT among Orthodontists. A cross sectional and descriptive survey questionnaire was distributed to 65 Orthodontists and post-graduates. Among the survey respondents, 29.2% were practising orthodontists, 67.7% were postgraduates and 3.1% academicians / researchers. Responses were anonymous and were subjected to statistical analysis. The survey showed that the majority of the subjects (98.5%) were aware of the use of CBCT in Orthodontics. CBCT is most commonly preferred for the evaluation of impacted teeth and in cleft cases. Many believe it is an important diagnostic tool in Orthodontics and could replace most radiographic modalities in future. The cost and lack of installation space are among the few reasons why CBCT is not used in routine orthodontic practise.
