Author: RANGEELA M, DR MARIAN ANAND BENNIS, DR DEEPIKA RAJENDRAN
Abstract: Oral health quality of life can be defined as a person's assessment of how functional, social factors, psychological, pain or discomfort which affect their well being in the context of oral health patients satisfaction with prosthodontic therapy have an impact on their oral health quality of life. Patients' satisfaction with prosthodontic therapy has a significant impact on their oral health quality of life. An Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP) questionnaire was prepared regarding the oral health-related quality of life of Fixed Partial Denture (Fixed partial denture prosthesis) treated patients. Out of 86000 patient records, 1640 patient records were first identified and analysed according to the inclusion criteria. Patients who did not fulfil the inclusion criteria were excluded. 100 complete patient records were finalised and a telephonic conversation was held to administer the questionnaire. Data collected were first tabulated in the excel sheet which was later analysed using the SPSS software (Chicago, USA) . In the present investigation, out of 100 patients, the mean age group was found to be 56.2 ±7.514 years. The gender distribution was reported as males (44%) and females (56%). The participants showed a significant improvement in all domains(functional limitation, pain, physiological discomfort, physical disability attributed to the oral conditions) of the OHIP questionnaire. 66.7% of participants believed that the Fixed partial denture prosthesis treatment by undergraduates satisfied their needs and problems with their teeth and mouth.. In this study, it can be concluded that the 66.7% of fixed partial denture patients treated by undergraduate students, on the whole, had a positive experience with no difficulties in phonetics, chewing, discomfort, allergy and sticking of food to the prostheses.
