A Survey on Perception and Efficacy of Online Teaching Among Dental College Students

Abstract:

Using the internet many universities are planning to conduct online classes during this lockdown. Initially it requires a lot of time and plans to build up an online class. Use of technology will support teaching and learning to increase among dental students. The aim of the study is to evaluate the perception and efficacy of online teaching among dental college students. The present study is a cross sectional survey conducted among 100 dental students to analyse their efficacy of online teaching. A self administered questionnaire was prepared with 15 questions and was circulated among dental students through online platform google forms. The data was collected,analyzed and tabulated using SPSS software.About 68% reported that their college started online classes during this quarantine period and 52% of students reported online teaching helps to understand the topic better. The Chi-square test was done associating with the year of study of dental college students and with the efficacy of online teaching. The present study concludes that the students have a positive attitude and support for online teaching which is much more required now. Many colleges conducting online teaching will feel helpful with students that are having positive and supporting attitudes towards online teaching.
