Open apex refers to the absence of sufficient root development to provide a conical taper to the canal and is referred to as a blunderbuss canal .Incomplete root development arises secondary to pulpal necrosis ,as a result of caries or trauma. In the developing roots of immature teeth until apical closure occurs approximately 3 years after eruption of the external surface of the root, an open apex is found. This retrospective analysis was done to assess the age, gender and teeth distribution in patients undergoing open apex management.Data of open apex treated patients were collected from patient records by assessing 86000 patient records between June 2019 and March 2020 and analysed using SPSS software. Descriptive statistics were expressed by means of frequency and percentage. Chi-square was used to find the association of age, gender, teeth distribution with open apex management. In this retrospective analysis,we found there was significant association between age, gender and teeth distribution in patients who reported with open apex (p value < 0.05) .Open apex is most commonly reported in 11 & 21 in the age group 10-20 years with male predilection
