Abstract:

Early childhood caries have been on the increase in many countries and has become a significant health problem especially in socially disadvantaged populations .ECC is defined as the presence of one or more decayed , missing or filling tooth surfaces in any primary teeth in a child at 71 months of age or younger . In children, there are more chances for maxillary teeth to fracture when they fall down or due to the traumatic accidents .The aim of the study is to check the prevalence of root stumps in children. The study was carried out in a hospital based setting in Chennai.The prevalence of root stumps in children were collected and it was analysed statistically. Out of 2824 patients, 1489 were males and 1335 were females.Among male children, 256 of them have root stumps and among female children, 220 of them have root stumps. It is concluded that root stumps are less prevalent among children
