People who suffer from various dental problems such as missing teeth due to trauma and various other dental problems tend to lose their self confidence and have an altered self image of being less competent in society. Fixed partial dentures (FPD) have been considered as an affordable and preferable treatment option by the patients for the replacement of missing teeth in various arches/ sextants. The excessive cement seen over the margins of the prosthesis are known as “ Cement Remnants”. These undetected cement remnants, if left unchecked, lie in these margins, causing delayed bone loss and failure of FPD treatment. To assess the presence of cement remnants in fixed partial dentures after cementation to prevent failure of FPD treatment. A hospital based study was conducted. A sample size of 100 FPD wearing patients were taken as participants for this study. The patients of this study reported to the hospital for the replacement of missing teeth in various arches/ sextants. Data was gathered by using DIAS ( Dental Information Archiving Software). Chi square test was applied to find the association between age, gender and presence of cement remnants. The study results show that the majority of the study population were free from cement remnants.
