Oral candidiasis is one of the commonest of infections caused by Candida albicans species of fungi. Candidiasis is an indicator of potential risk of HIV, corticosteroid therapy, antibiotic overdosages, poor hygiene of dentures and immunological and endocrine disorders. The aim of this study is to identify age and gender predilection of oral candidiasis among patients to evaluate risk factors. A retrospective data collection was done by collecting and reviewing 86000 case records of patients reported to Saveetha dental college and hospitals. Study period was 10 months. Inclusion criteria were available & exclusion criteria were established. Parameters were tabulated and Chi square analysis was performed using SPSS software version. The results showed that males are prone to oral candidiasis in comparison with females and there is slight predilection towards the 4th decade. Within the limitations of study it can be concluded that there is slight predilection for male gender and 4th decade for oral candidiasis. Whether systemic illness or socioeconomic reasons played a role in the disease needs to be further evaluated with larger sample size and multicentre studies among our population.
