Knowledge and Awareness in Emergency Medical Services among Dental Students

Abstract:

Emergency medical services or emergency service which treat injuries and illness that require an urgent medical response and its more commonly known as EMS which provides emergency medical care it is an intricate system in which each component of this system has an unique role to perform as part of a seamless system and coordinated emergency medical care. The study's aim is to assess knowledge among dental students in management of emergency medical service. Cross-sectional type of study conducted among dental students comprising 15 questions responses were collected and analysed. A total of 107 participants participated in this survey. Of total about 60.19 % were first year students and about 60.19% were aware of the toll free number, 63.89% prefer multiple toll free number, 72.22% think there is adequate emergency service, 73.15% responded that they were aware of Head tilt chin lift procedure in airway management emergency situations. Overall the dental students have a fair knowledge on emergency services. The survey conducted that awareness and knowledge regarding EMS among dental students are much evident.
