Abstract: This study aimed to set up, initiate and evaluate the outcomes of health screening services by pharmacists in selected community pharmacies. The community pharmacists were educated and trained through continuing pharmacy education programs to provide health screening services viz. BP, blood glucose level and BMI measurements. The individuals met the inclusion/exclusion criteria were provided with such services and the outcomes were assessed. A total of 200 subjects were screened in 5community pharmacies. Elevated BP and blood sugar levels were confirmed after repeated measurements in 65 and 33 subjects respectively, who were then referred to the physicians. Fifteen subjects were found to have abnormal BMI values. The reduction in BP and blood sugar level in the study subjects provided with health screening services, compared to the control group were found statistically significant (p<0.002; p<0.004 respectively). The BP and blood sugar levels of the patients at final follow-up also reduced significantly (p<0.003; p<0.004 respectively) from their baseline values through regular screening services. Majority of the subjects (99%) were satisfied with the health screening services provided by the community pharmacists. The study demonstrated the potentials of the community pharmacists to perform health screening and monitoring the services for better healthcare outcomes.
