Abstract:
|
Background: (Ischemic heart disease IHD is the leading cause of Cardiovascular diseases that is produced by atherosclerosis which is a pathological status result from a background of intermingling of genetic and environmental issues.
Aim: To study the association of polymorphism in IL-8-251A/T (rs4073) gene in patients with coronary artery disease.
Method: A 50 candidates were diagnosed to have coronary artery disease and 50 healthy individuals were included in this study. Used tetra ARMS-PCR method in determine any polymorphism in the gene of IL-8-251A/T (rs4073).
Result: This result revealed the patients with AA homozygous genotype and TA heterozygous genotype (P value= 0.03, OR =0.27, 95% CI: (0.09-0.79) are associated with risk of coronary artery disease in comparison with patients have TT genotype. The result that revealed the A allele which is contributed with risk coronary artery disease than T allele (P value= <0.0001, OR:0.20, 95%CI: 0.11-38)
Conclusion: patients with CAD have AA and TA genotypes contributed to the risk of IHD compared with TT genotype.
