Study of a Spectrophotometric Determination for Iron (III) using 1- [(2,4-Dimethyl phenyl) Azo-2-Nephthol and their Thermodynamic functions

Author: , SUAD TORKI ABD-AL ABBAS, SHAYMAA IBRAHIM SAEED, ALAA FRAK HUSSAIN
Abstract: A highly selective , accurate and a new simple method was developed to determine iron (???) ions with azo dye 1-[(2,4-Dimetyl phenyl ) Azo -2-Naphthol] (DMPAN) as chromogenic reagent (Ligand) at ( pH=3) to formed a pale red complex , The iron complex gives obeys Beer’s law at the concentration range (8µg/mL - 44µg/mL) , The molar Absorptivity was (0.140x104 L/mol.cm) and the detection limit of (2.093µg/mL) , At the given pH the complex stability was (60 minutes), The effect of temperature , reagent concentration and some selected ions as interference have been considered and studied , The iron complex Stoichiometry was [1:2] confirmed with (Molard & Mole Ratio) methods, The iron complex characterized with UV- visible ray , The Relative Error and Relative Standard Deviations was used to explain the Precision and accuracy of the method
