KNOWLEDGE OF WEARING NORMAL MASK AND RESPIRATORY MASK DURING COVID-19

Abstract:

Many countries including India are currently using face masks in their pandemic control plans of Covid-19. During this pandemic spread the correct use of face masks is particularly important, as an improper use and disposal may actually raise the rate of transmission. The purpose of this study was to investigate the knowledge of wearing a respirator mask and normal mask to limit the spread of the new coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Questionnaire was prepared and administered to 100 participants through google form an online survey. The study was approved by the scientific review board, Saveetha Dental College, Chennai. The answers obtained from the participants were recorded and the data was statistically analysed. A total of 100 participants were included in the study, around 85.3% of participants knew about the correct method of wearing the mask . 49% of participants knew about surgical mask protection from Covid-19. 88.2% of participants knew that the N95 respiratory mask is protected from Covid-19. Awareness campaigns regarding the proper use of face masks by utilising all social media available resources would be helpful during this pandemic.
