Coronavirus is a RNA virus, it has a crown-like appearance and spike glycoprotein envelope of subfamily orthocoronavirinae. COVID-19 is an irresistible malady caused by SARS-CoV-2. Hence hand hygiene is important to prevent the spread of infection.It is the most important element in infection control activities. Hand hygiene is defined as hand wash or washing hands and nails with soap and water or using a hand sanitizer.They can be used in addition to hand washing to minimize risks.To be effective, alcohol hand gels should contain not less than 60% alcohol.The aim of the study was to access the knowledge and perception on hand sanitizers among rural population. A cross section survey was initiated in the village of Neikkarapatti in namakkal district of Tamilnadu about the knowledge attitude and perception towards the role of hand sanitizers among the rural population. 100 people responded and the data has been collected and plotted in a graph. Data has been collected and with the help of SPSS software data has been analysed.Among the population majority of them are moderately aware about the knowledge attitude and perception towards the role of hand sanitizers.This study emphasizes the role of hand sanitizers in prevention of covid-19 among rural population.
