Prevalence of Immune Deficiency Due to Smoking

Abstract: Cigarette smoking is associated with numerous diseases and poses serious challenges to the current healthcare system worldwide.The habit of smoking impacts on both innate and adaptive immunity and plays a dual role in regulating immunity by either exacerbation of pathogenic immune response or defensive immunity.Adaptive immune cells are affected by the smoking mainly include T helper cells.Which results in numerous disease including cardiovascular system respiratory and autoimmune disease allergies etc. The aim of the present study is to determine and create awareness of the effects of smoking on immunity in the body. The present study was conducted questionnaire based online survey on impact of smoking on immunity.The results were analysed statistically and represented as graphs. The present study has observed interesting results that 63% of the respondents have started smoking at the teenage.The 40% of the respondents have agreed that they smoked more than 5 times per day,32% have shown increased blood pressure due to smoking.
