Smart Queue Management System

Author: IVANDRO MAURO NHANCOLO, HAIRUL AYSA BINTI ABDUL HALIM SITHIQ , NOR AZLINA BINTI ABD RAHMAN
Abstract: People usually wait for long time in queues in many different places in order to get a service, without knowing the real waiting time and without doing anything productive while waiting, which causes customers dissatisfaction and a very bad user experience. Others, after realizing that the waiting time longer than expected, abandon the queue without notifying the service providers, which causes a huge number of tickets to be called without any recipients. Many businesses have been using queue systems to manage users flow in the services center which are not effective in addressing those issues. This paper discusses about a Smart Queue Management System (SQMS) which will be implemented to solve those problems. The SQMS will allow the users to book their queue ticket through their mobile phones and be able to monitor and get regular updates about the queue status through their phones. Users will be able to know the queue status before even joining the queue. Furthermore, a secondary research was conducted, which was helpful in studying the user’s behavior while queuing, as well as a primary research to understand and analyze the user’s requirements. In addition, similar existing systems were reviewed and analyzed to understand the disadvantages and advantages of those systems which could be applied in the SQMS. The SQMS aims to address all the issues found and take into consideration the users’ requirements to provide a smarter way of queueing, in which the outcome is provided in the system framework.
