Abstract:

An elective procedure is one that is chosen (elected) by the patient or physician that is advantageous to the patient but is not urgent. Elective surgery is decided by the patient or their doctor. The procedure is seen as beneficial but not absolutely essential at that time Removal of a malignancy , for example, is usually scheduled as semi-elective surgery, to be performed within a set number of days or weeks. Urgent surgery is typically performed within 48 hours of diagnosis. Emergency surgery is performed as soon as a surgeon is available.Many surgeries can be performed as either elective or emergency surgeries, depending on the patient's needs. The aim of the study was to assess the awareness of the effects of pandemic outbreak on elective treatment among general population. Semi-elective procedures are typically scheduled within a time frame deemed appropriate for the patient's condition and disease. Materials and methods: A self structured questionnaire is administered to the participants to know the awareness on the effect of pandemic treatment outbreak on elective treatment . Data was collected and statistically analysed using SPSS. Based on the assessment we conclude that there is a moderate awareness among people regarding the elective treatment in pandemic outbreak . Medical professionals are available to provide treatment for the people who are undergoing elective treatment
