Effectiveness of Online Teaching During Unforeseen Circumstance - Survey Among Students and Teaching Faculty of a Dental Institution

Abstract:

Online teaching refers to courses that are delivered completely through online. Teaching of syllabus based on computer systems. Online learning also known as e-Learning is continuous growth rapidly but still in the early stage of development. The aim of the study was to determine the effectiveness of online teaching and learning methods in order to improve the quality of the education provided and learning ability of the students. 20 questions were prepared and distributed to the 100 dental students. The survey was circulated using Google forms and data was analysed using SPSS software. Chi square test was done to analyse the association between various parameters. The results showed that many of the students are satisfied with online teaching and found it effective. 33% females are aware that in online classes lessons can be for future references and only 30% male are aware of it. 34% females are aware that online class needs self-discipline and only 30% male are aware of it and it was not found to be significant. Online teaching has both advantages and disadvantages. Hereby we conclude that a moderate level of awareness was present among the students of regarding online teaching
