| Abstract:
|
Overweight and obesity among adolescents has emerged as a major public health concern in India in recent years.
Apart from the negative physical consequences and increased risk of chronic disease, it can lead to plethora of
negative consequences. Body image dissatisfaction is one such neglected phenomenon and serious cause for
concern, as it can lead to negative mood states, impairment of social life and can also affect the academic
performance of the affected individual. The study was aimed to estimate the prevalence and factors associated with
overweight and obesity among adolescents and the pattern of body image perception among them.
