To estimate the prevalence of traumatic dental injuries to the anterior teeth among 4-12 years. Traumatic dental injuries to anterior teeth are a significant public health problem, not only because their prevalence is relatively high, but also because they have considerable impact on children’s daily lives. A cross-sectional study was conducted among the out patients in Saveetha Dental College of age group varying from 4-12 years. In addition to recording the type of trauma (using Ellis and Davey classification of fractures, 1960), over jet, Angle’s molar relation and lip competence were also recorded. The data obtained were compiled systematically and then statistically analyzed. The trauma prevalence in the present study was 10.6%. Children with mesial step molar relationships exhibited more number of dental injuries. Enamel fracture was the most common injury recorded. Children with reason for fall were more prevalent for dental trauma with Type I fracture as the commonly occurring fracture among the children. This was mainly statistically significant [p=<0.05]. Only 15 % of the children had undergone treatment. It was concluded that the prevalence of traumatic dental injuries was 10.6%. Within the limits of the present study, children of age group 7-9 Years were more prevalent for the traumatic dental injuries with Type I fracture as the most common. The most common reason for the fracture is due to Falls.
