Background: Infections in the adolescent period are mostly due to improper hygienic practices and nutritional problems. Hence the screening for both the issues should be done on a regular basis to intervene properly and reduce the possibility of morbidity during the adolescent period.
Objectives: To assess the nutritional status and the hygienic practices of the adolescent students attending secondary school at Berhampore
Methodology: This was a cross-sectional study conducted among students aged 11 to 14 years studying in a secondary school, Berhampore. The study was conducted using a validated, pre-tested semi-structured questionnaire.
Results: The result showed that the majority of the study participants were at the age of 13 years (61%) and most of the study participants were females (52%). The study also showed that there were 27.3%, 18.2%, and 24.7% prevalence of underweight, stunting, and wasting respectively. There was a 19.5% prevalence of worm expulsion in the past 3 months.
