Celastrus paniculatus Willd. (CP) (Family: Celastraceae) is a traditional Ayurvedic herb. This plant has been used traditionally as a medicine. This study is to judge antioxidant profile of successive solvent portions of Celastrus paniculatus full plant (except roots) from the north-western Himalayas (Himachal Pradesh). Successive solvent extraction performed with Ethanol, Chloroform, water and acetone followed by total phenolic substance determination and antioxidant assays includes ABTS radical decolorization assay, reducing power assay, DPPH radical reducing activity, superoxide radical (O2•–) scavenging activity, NO• scavenging activity, metal chelating activity, Hydroxyl radical (HO•) scavenging and H2O2 scavenging activity by in vitro technique. The amount of phenolic substance was also estimated in a good amount in ethanol and CHCl3 extracts. By the evaluation of IC50 (Half maximal inhibitory concentration) values of all extract it’s clear that the ethanolic extracts have the best antioxidant activity among the entire antioxidant assay (IC50 of CP-E < CP-C
