| Abstract:

Attitude is said to be a mental position of an individual with like or dislike towards a place, thing or an event. Mental attitude plays a major role in an individual’s behaviour on repeated experience towards a situation. Having a positive attitude helps to develop into a better man with good quality of life. There is always a controversy in BDS admissions regarding whether they were willing to pursue dentistry or not. This study aims to determine the mental attitude of adolescent students pursuing dentistry. A self evaluable questionnaire was prepared with a set of 10 close ended questions which was surveyed among 100 of the adolescent student population. The data was collected, analysed and computed to represent the results as pie charts. Though the majority of the surveyed population wasn’t willing to pursue dentistry at the beginning of their courses , most of them develop interest during the middle of their courses and think it's a must for everyone to develop interest towards it to have a better future with much more success.There exists a positive mental attitude among the adolescents pursuing dentistry.
