Synthesis, Characterization with Theoretical Study Pd (II),Ag(I)andCd(II)Complexesof 4-methylaminoantipyrin

Author: FARAH M.IBRAHIM, FATMA M.ABDUL-HAMEED, HUDA GHALIB SALMAN
Abstract: Derivatives of 4-aminoantipyrine have an important role in the coordination chemistry due to the formation of stable coordinated compounds with different transition ions with many applications in biological, analytical, and medical fields. Pd2+, Ag1+and Cd2+ complexes of 4-methylaminoantipyrine (MM) were prepared using an aqueous solution of transition metal salts with an aqueous solution of ligand 1:2 (metal: ligand) mole ratio, these complexes characterized by melting point, infrared spectroscopy and thermal analysis. The program Hyperchem 7.1 using semi-empirical calculations at 298 K to calculate the heat of formation, binding energy, geometric properties, total energy, and vibration frequencies of the MM and its complexes. The stability of the complexes was studied by the energy gap calculation, the stable complex with a transition metal ion gave the lower value of the energy gap. Then the experimental frequencies compared with theoretical frequencies and gave acceptable results, so the square planar geometry suggested for PdMM, CdMM complexes, and distorted tetrahedral for AgMM complex.
Keyword: 4-methylaminoantipyrine derivatives, metal ion complexes of 4-methylaminoantipyrine, thermal analysis.
