This study presents a historical assessment of the regulation of land resources in the agricultural sector of Russia, outlines the main stages of the formation and development of land relations in Russia, does a comparative analysis of land management in Russia and foreign countries, presents theoretical aspects of the economic regulation of land relations in the agro-industrial sector, and provides an assessment of the land resource endowment of the Russian Federation and countries that are world leaders in the availability of land resources. The prerequisites for the development of agricultural production in Russia based on existing land resources are justified
