Antioxidant Activity of some New synthesised benzo[d]imidazo[2,1-b]thiazole derivatives

Abstract:
|
Heterocyclic compounds that containing imidazo moiety and their fused derivatives constitutes the main class of organic compounds with their medical and biological properties; therefore, development of some novel fused heterocycles is the main goal of the present work. Thus, a series of benzo[d]imidazo[2,1-b]thiazole [BIT] derivatives were designed, synthesized and evaluated for their antioxidant activity. Preliminary results one compound showed excellent antioxidant activity and others showed good and moderate antioxidant activity using the DPPH method. These new [BIT] derivatives were synthesized through multi-step reactions, while 2-aryl [BIT] was prepared based on a known procedure, then aldehyde group was introduced at position 3, after that 3-carbaldehyde [BIT] underwent Claisen condensation with different substituted acetophenone to give new unsaturated ketones (chalcones), which on cyclization with malono nitril and guanidine to afford new derivatives of [BIT] cyanopyridine and aminopyrimidine.
