Endometriosis is a disease that can be identified by the presence of endometrial tissue or glands that are functional outside of the uterus which is painful and usually occurs in the women at the periods of reproduction. The women with endometriosis exhibit progesterone resistance and increased production of estrogen. The current study was performed to determine the levels of follistatin and AMH in the peritoneal fluid of women with endometriosis and compare with that of healthy individuals. This study was conducted on 30 women at reproductive age with endometriosis some of them were newly diagnosed and the others were on treatments with progesterone or goserelin, and 30 healthy individuals as a control group. The levels of follistatin and AMH were determined using ELISA technique. This study demonstrated that the levels of follistatin were significantly higher in patients compared with healthy controls where P < 0.05., but AMH levels significantly decrease in pateints when compared with healthy subjects. As a conclusion, follistatin can consider as diagnostic marker for endometriosis.
