An Approach of Nutritional Deficiency Disorder among Pregnant Women

Author: LINGESWARAN , MURALI. R
Abstract: The World health organization mentions using anti-helminthic drugs, such as albendazole, during second or third trimester of pregnancy as a constituent of stratagems aimed at cultivating iron deficiency anaemia.Maternal anaemia is connected with poor intrauterine growth andincreasedthreat of preterm births subsequent in increased low birth weight rate.Mothers should be sophisticated about maternal anaemia, the need for overriding iron rich foods, circumventing coffee, tea and about the significances of anaemia on maternal and child health. There should be emphasis on screening all pregnant women for anaemia and providing suitable treatment depending upon haemoglobin levels at primary health care set up should be undertaken.Anaemia is the further most communal nutritional absence complaint in the world. India was the first emerging country to take up a National Nutritional Anaemia Prophylaxis Programme to inhibitanaemia among pregnant women. There is still a lack of knowledge about the intake of iron and folic acid tablets and iron sucrose injections in rural pregnant mothers. Anaemia is one of the preventable conditions, so the prevention, detection and appropriate management of anaemia in pregnant women is essential. Health education about anaemia control has to be strengthened among pregnant mothers, to avoid further maternal morbidity and mortality at the national level. The knowledge obtained from the study could be used for creating awareness and also plan an effective control strategy for health managers. There are very few studies with this background, prevalence and valuation of associated risk factors of anaemia among pregnant women in the rural community. Hence a cross sectional study was proposed.
