Pulmonology is a branch of medicine concerned with the anatomy, physiology, & pathology of the lungs. Drug interaction is defined as the modification of the effect of a drug when it is administered with another drug. The result may be an increase or a decrease in the action of either substance, or it may be an adverse effect that is not generally associated with either drug. This is an Observational study – A Retrospective cohort study. The results of this study were obtained and described as a distribution of patients based on age, gender habits, length of stay, comorbidities, disease conditions, number of drug prescribed, number of drug interactions, the severity of the interactions, interactions based on gender, interactions based on probability, commonly seen drug interactions, Individual drug frequency in interactions and statistical analysis. The conclusion of this study enlightens the high prevalence of drug interactions in geriatric patients of the pulmonology department, and it also revealed that around one-third of patients are exposed to drug-drug interactions, and possibly polypharmacy is an essential predictor.
