Synthesis and Antimicrobial Activity of 2-(4-Oxo-2-Phenyl Quinazolin-3(4H)-Yl) Propane Hydrazide Derivatives

Abstract: In the present study,some new2-(4-oxo-2- phenylquinazoline derivatives have been prepared starting from reaction of the latter with alanine yielded 2-(4-oxo-2-phenylquinazolin-3(4H)-yl)propanoic acid (1). The reaction of compound (1) with thionyl chloride produced 2-(4-oxo-2-phenylquinazolin-3(4H)-yl)propanoyl chloride (2). Condensation of compound (2) with hydrazine hydrate afforded 2-(4-oxo-2-phenylquinazolin-3(4H)-yl)propanehydrazide (3).The azomethines (4a-d)were synthesized from the reaction between corresponding aldehydes and acid hydrazied(3). Treatment of Schiff base with glycine resulted in the new N-(5-oxo-2-phenylimidazolidin-1-yl)-2-(4-oxo-2-phenylquinazolin-3(4H)-yl) propanamide (5a-d).
