Relationship of Mother's Behavior with Cleanliness Status Dental and Mouth in Students with Special Needs

| Abstract:

Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship of maternal behavior with dental and oral hygiene status in students with special needs at YPAC SLB Banda Aceh.
Material and Methods:. This research is analytical. The population in this study were all mothers and children with special needs at YPAC SLB Banda Aceh, which amounted to 60 mothers and 60 students, the sample in this study was taken by the technique of Total Population. The study was carried out on August 3 to 2018 and analyzed data using the chi-square test with a degree of trust (a = 0.05).
Results: showed no relationship between knowledge of mothers with dental and oral hygiene status (p = 0.15) and there was a relationship between maternal attitudes (p = 0.02) and there was a relationship between maternal actions and dental and oral hygiene status (p = 0.01 ) It can be concluded that there is no relationship between knowledge of mothers with dental and oral hygiene and there is a relationship between attitudes and actions of mothers with dental and oral hygiene in students with special needs. Good attitude and actions are expected form others to be able to change or improve their children's behaviors othat children are able to maintain the cleanliness of their teeth and mouth.
