Narikela lavana is one of the authentic formulations described under various texts which includes Rasatarangini, Bhaishajya Ratnavali, Chakradutta, Bhavaprakaha etc. It is indicated mainly in Parinama shoola, amlapitta etc. Narikela lavana consists of two ingredients namely Narikela (Cocus nucifera), Saindhava Lavana (Rock Salt). In this study, narikela lavana is prepared by the method mentioned under AFI guidelines. It possesses the properties of kshara which helps in pacifying the Vidagdha pitta with amla and drava guna. The analysis of Narikela lavana is characterised with the parameters which includes description, Total ash (%w/w), Acid insoluble ash (%w/w), Water Soluble Extractive (%w/w), Alcohol soluble extractive (%w/w), pH (1% solution), Moisture by Karl-Fischer Method and Heavy metal Analysis (lead, cadmium, mercury, arsenic). In Ayurveda, there are lots of herbo-mineral formulations which helps in the management of Amlapitta, Parinama shoola etc, but as per the study, Narikela lavana is alkaline in nature easy and cost effective, it can be proved that it can be used in conditions like Amlapitta, Parinama shoola etc.
