It is treated to a high temperature to increase the surface area of the charcoal powder. Activated charcoal can effectively be used as toothpaste or tooth powder since they have the ability to remove surface stains.Activated charcoal will be very porous and may have very good adsorption capacity.Recently many charcoal based dentifrices commercially available, starting from toothbrush to mouthwash many oral hygiene products based on activated charcoal are available.
