Cancer is responsible for millions of deaths worldwide and, even though much progress has been achieved in medicine, but there are still many issues like in order to improve cancer therapy like invasive method, expensive treatment, side effects and redued quality of life. Gold nanoparticles are emerging as promising agents for cancer therapy and are being investigated as drug carriers, photothermal agents, contrast agents and radiosensitisers. One of the most possible solutions to this could be the use of gold nanoparticle (AuNPs) in combination with various cannabinoids, a Cannabis derivative from the Cannabis sativa. Gold nanoparticle photodynamic therapy (AuNP-PDT) is the most favoured form of treatment for cancer, due to its augmented speci?city and minimal risk of side e?ects compared to conventional approaches. In this review, we deliberated the role of gold nanoparticle combined with cannabinoids treatment on cancer cells.
