It is well known that language contacts have a strong influence of the mother tongue on the speaker’s speech
in the process of learning a second language. This effect is seen at all levels of language as phonetics, semantics,
lexical, morphological and sintactical. While it is possible to study the causes of grammatical or phonetic
interference and bring it to an imperceptible level, lexical-semantic interference is almost inevitable. This
article covers the topic in detail based on the analysis of examples of lexical-semantic interference in the
Uzbek language of the Tajik-speaking population living in the Fergana region of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
