Silver Nanoparticles Synthesis Using Acorus Calamus Plant Extract and Assessment of Its Antimicrobial Activity

Abstract: In recent times Nanotechnology or Nanomaterial science specifically metal nanoparticles is gaining much more importance. This field deals with the particles bearing size of 1-100 nm which makes them unique in nature. This approach is more eco-friendly and less tedious one. Green synthesis of Ag-NPs was done by using leaf extracts of Acorus Calamus with AgNO3. The antimicrobial activity assessment of (Ag-NPs) were studied with respect to 4 different strains of bacteria viz: E.coli Bacillus subtilis Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes obtained from IMTECH Chandigarh. Preferred ratio of aqueous plant extract in presence of AgNO3 was prepared for the synthesis (9:1) and sent for further characterization by sophisticated instruments applicable to the field of nanoscience.
