The present work describes a visible spectrophotometric method for the determination of amoxicillin trihydrate
(AMOX) and levofloxacin hemihydrate (LF) depending on the formation of the ion-pair complex between AMOX,
LF and Bromocresol Green (BCG) at 615, 617 nm respectively. The linearity ranges were 1.0-10 g mL
-1
and 0.5-
-1
20 g mL
for AMOX and LF, respectively, correlation coefficients, limits of detection (LOD), limits of
quantitation (LOQ) were also calculated. The described method has been utilized successfully to quantify
amoxicillin and levofloxacin in the pharmaceutical preparation with a recovery average of 99.401- 100.490% and
95.971 - 102.871% respectively.
