Probing into Pragmatic Ways: Prevention and Treatment of Covid-19

| Abstract:

The world is going through unprecedented times. With over 25,644,359 confirmed cases and 854,861 deaths, COVID-19 has put the world to halt. The Coronavirus has brought the global health professionals and research community to work together to accelerate the research towards finding a permanent solution against it in form of a vaccine or antiviral drug. In the absence of any promising vaccine or drug, the heath workers are advising over various measures to constrain the virus transmission. Researchers are seamlessly working on different vaccines, antibody development and consortia of antiviral drugs that can help to treat the disease. Scientists are also considering Mesenchymal Stem Cell Therapy and Plasma Therapy as the effective tool to fight against SARS-CoV-2 infection. However, the extent of the success of all these therapies still needs to be investigated as most these studies are in clinical phases. In this review, we provide insights into various vaccines, antibodies and antiviral drugs that are being tested for their potency against SARS-CoV-2 infection. The scope of Mesenchymal Stem Cell Therapy and Plasma Therapy in fighting the infection is also described.
