From the recent year’s biodiesel seeks great attention due to its environment friendly properties as it is non-poisonous and decomposable. From animal fatand Vegetable oil both edible and non-edible biodiesel can be produced. Jatropha is a multifunctional plant with different characteristics and significant prospective. Jatropha can be cultivated in those areas where rainfall ranges from low to high and it is a tropical plant. As jatropha is a commercial plant thus it is a source of employment and enhances the standard of rural life. Currently the status of the Jatropha in the world as largest developed oilseed crop. In this review the content of oil, arrangement of free fatty acids and physicochemical methods are presented. Fossil diesel and Jatropha biodiesel properties are compared and verified with European and American level. The main aim of this review is providing the whole information related to Jatropha plant and the conversing technologies which are used to change over the seed oil into biodiesel.Fossil diesel and Jatropha biodiesel properties are contrasted and confirmed at European and American level. Both the advantages and disadvantages of conversing technologies are also explained in this paper. Studies show that enzymatic transesterification is mostly considered because of good product and simple separation process from by product. It is necessary to execute a research on large scale cultivation of Jatropha plant that how it effects the environment. Life cycle analysis of Jatropha plant is significant in those nations where large scale production is done.
