Dental and oral health problems that are often found in children around the world, especially in developing countries, including Indonesia, are dental caries. Basic Health Research shows an increase in the prevalence of dental caries in Indonesia, namely 43.4% in 2007 to 53.2% in 2013. Caries is a chronic and regressive process that begins with dissolving enamel by the formation of an acid and microbial substrate, resulting in destruction of it. dental organic components. Caries is often found in children under five years of age, with the highest spread in children aged three years. Current scientific approaches promote prevention such as maintaining oral hygiene by regular brushing with toothpaste and mouthwash rather than surgical intervention. However, the use of antiseptics in mouthwash is thought to have a carcinogenic effect, leading to this systematic review of the use of pediatric herbal mouthwashes in pediatric dentistry. The article search method using Google search and pubmed contained 147 articles/electronic search journals and after being selected there were 6 articles entered that met the criteria. Herbal mouthwash can be used as a conventional, alternative treatment and also has a better antimicrobial effect on children's dental caries.
