Awareness And Attitude Of Dental Students Towards Organ And Body Donation

The organ donation system strives to honor the gift of donated organs by fully using those organs to improve the quality of the lives of transplant recipients. Organ transplantation has become the optimal treatment for many end- stage patients..The main aim of this study was to check the awareness and attitude among dental students towards organ and body donation and to assess their willingness to donate organs and body A survey was conducted among 100 dental students, by using a questionnaire in online survey method and results were tabulated and statistically. From the result, it shows 90% of the students are aware about organ donation.10% of the dental students are not aware about organ donation.75% of the dental students feels that organ donation causes disfiguration.86% of the dental students support organ donation .77% of the dental students feels that body donated may misused or abused and only 20% of the dental students are willing to donate their body. The present study shows that.even though the knowledge and awareness about organ and body donation among dental students was found to be high, effective measures need to be taken to educate them to change their attitude towards willingness to donate their organs and body.
