Children’s Perception on Dental Lighting

Abstract:

In dental practice, most children do not cooperate during dental procedures and sometimes it's difficult to manage a child in a dental clinic.The most common emotional problems seen during dental treatment are anxiety and fear, which might originate from a previous traumatic experience in the dental office or during hospitalization for other reasons. The aim of the present study is to analyse the perception of dental lighting among children. Self administered questionnaire was designed based on the perception of dental lighting. The questionnaire was distributed through an online survey planet link. The study population included children in the age group between 10-18 years. The participants were explained about the purpose of study in detail. The questions were carefully studied and the corresponding answer was marked by the participants. The data was collected and analysed. The results of the present study are, 61.6% of the participants like or prefer the white dental light and 31.4% of the participants prefer yellow light. 84% of the participants prefer to become a dentist in future and 16% of the participants did not prefer becoming a dentist. The present study concluded that the children have a very good perception of the dental lighting and the dental atmosphere.
