Abstract:

An extracurricular activity (ECA) or extra academic activity (EAA) is an activity, performed by students, that falls outside the realm of the normal curriculum of school, college or university education. Extracurricular activities to dental students should be encouraged. They should not be only engaged in studies and clinical work to divert their mind, extracurricular activities are very important. A self administrated questionnaire was prepared on the topic of time spent in extracurricular activities by dental students and distributed through a mode of a survey planet link among dental students and we got around 108 responses. In one of the questions extracurricular activities are important for dental students and the responses were 68.5% yes and 31.5% no. Whether extracurricular activities make dental students stress free and responses were 64.8% yes and 35.2% no. The questions implied that dental students must be involved in extracurricular activities and the responses were 85.2% yes and 14.8% no.Apart from heavy loaded studies and clinical work it is very important for dental students to involve themselves into extracurricular activities.
