The role of Neem (Azadirachta indica) ethanolic extracts on the murine experimentally infected with Candidiasis

Abstract: The aimed of research study the effect of Azadirachta indica in treatment Candida albicans experimentally infection in mice as well as to evaluate the effect of ethanolic extract of this medical plant against same isolated pathogenic yeast. Forty female mice were sub divided to (4) groups. The 1 group (10) mice were challenged subcutaneously with (0.5) ml of fungal suspension contain(4x10 st ) ml of viable virulence Candida albicans and treated with neem ethanolic extract in a dose (25 g/ml.B.wt) these treatments which were given on day (1) subcutaneously, the 2 6 group (10) mice were infected with infected dose of Candida albicans as previously and treated with neem extract in a dose (12.5 g/ml B.wt) as above, the 3 nd group (10) mice was given Candida albicans (4x10 rd group (10) mice were inoculated with(0.5)ml of sterile normal saline and saved as negative control. All animals had been observed during the experiment period, and then all animals were sacrificed after treatment with Azadirachtaindica extract had been done, post mortem changes achieved on all animals groups. Histopathological changes of infected positive control(3 6 live cell/ ml) and saved as control positive while the 4 th group) characterized by necrotic lesions mainly in liver and intestine with fibrinous deposition together with presence pseudo hyphae in renal tubules with polymorpho nuclear cell infiltration accompanied with splenic lymphoid depletion and amyloid like substance deposition while the main lesion in treated infected groups(1 rd groups)showed granulumatous lesion, lymphoid hyperplasia and mononuclear cells infiltration.
