The aimed of research study the effect of Azadirachta indica in treatment Candida albicans experimentally
infection in mice as well as to evaluate the effect of ethanolic extract of this medical plant against same
isolated pathogenic yeast.
Forty female mice were sub divided to (4) groups. The 1
group (10) mice were challenged subcutaneously
with (0.5) ml of fungal suspension contain(4x10
st
) ml of viable virulence Candida albicans and treated with
neem ethanolic extract in a dose (25 g/ml.B.wt) these treatments which were given on day (1)
subcutaneously, the 2
6
group (10) mice were infected with infected dose of Candida albicans as previously
and treated with neem extract in a dose (12.5 g/ml B.wt) as above, the 3
nd
group (10) mice was given
Candida albicans (4x10
rd
group (10) mice were
inoculated with(0.5)ml of sterile normal saline and saved as negative control.
All animals had been observed during the experiment period, and then all animals were sacrificed after
treatment with Azadirachtaindica extract had been done, post mortem changes achieved on all animals
groups. Histopathological changes of infected positive control(3
6
live cell/ ml) and saved as control positive while the 4
th
group) characterized by necrotic lesions
mainly in liver and intestine with fibrinous deposition together with presence pseudo hyphae in renal tubules
with polymorpho nuclear cell infiltration accompanied with splenic lymphoid depletion and amyloid like
substance deposition while the main lesion in treated infected groups(1
rd
groups)showed
granulumatous lesion, lymphoid hyperplasia and mononuclear cells infiltration.
