Rubber dam isolation is a gold standard technique to improve the quality of treatment provided.Rubber dam has many advantages which includes improved accessibility & visibility ,retraction of soft tissues ,prevents the accidental aspiration of instruments and prevents cross contamination. The aim of this survey was to assess and evaluate the knowledge of dental professionals towards rubber dam isolation and recent advancements in isolation techniques.A cross-sectional survey was conducted among clinical dental practitioners and students, in the month of April ,2020 .The questionnaire consisted of 21 questions and was structured under the headings of knowledge, attitude and practice. The questionnaire was distributed via google forms and responses collected. A total of 206 responses were collected and assessed. All the data was compiled and tabulated in Microsoft Excel and exported to IBM SPSS version 20.0. Data was represented through frequency distribution tables and Chi square tests performed with the level of significance at 0.05 for the comparison between the general dental practitioners (GDPs), post graduate students, undergraduate students and other speciality dentists..More than half of the population have the knowledge about the uses of the rubber dam and their recent advances but only half of them use the rubber dam in their daily practice. Majority of them accept that the isolation has its influence on the outcome of endodontic treatment but due to time consumption for application their use in practice is hindered. Awareness has to be created among dentists about the use of rubber dam and its influence on the endodontic treatment outcome .Use of rubber dam has to be emphasised from undergraduate programs and continuing the education through CDE programs has to be done to know the recent advances in dentistry.
